Community Planner
 
The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine is seeking an experienced professional to fill the position of Community Planner in the Development Services Department. The Regional District provides local government services within a region of 100,000km2 in the northwest of BC. The offices are located in the regional centre of Terrace.
 
The Community Planner will be responsible for:
  • Providing technical assistance and information to the public including front counter and phone inquiries.

  • Attending Public Hearings and other community advisory commission meetings as requested.

  • Assisting other planning staff as appropriate.

  • Preparation and administration of official community plans, zoning and other regulatory bylaws.

  • Liaise with other departments and external agencies, as required.

     

Qualifications:
  • University degree in planning or related field.

  • Member of, or eligible for, Planning Institute of British Columbia.

  • 3 years of municipal planning related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Understanding of provincial planning legislation and related statutes.

  • Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence.
