Welcome

Welcome. The Regional District provides local government services to an area of 107,000km² in northwestern British Columbia. Member municipalities are Kitimat, Terrace, Stewart, Hazelton and New Hazelton.

The Regional District administers over 40 "functions" or services including rural land use planning, community water system, fire protection, tranportation system and library services. 

The Regional District employs approximately 30 full and part-time employees in Terrace and Kitimat.

Are you interested in this region's history? Would you like to contribute to conservation of Northwest BC's diverse heritage? The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine is seeking members to fill vacancies on its Heritage Advisory Commission. The Comission is comprised of local citizens, assists in placing heritage features on the Heritage Registry and advises the Regional Board on other heritage matters.

The British Columbia Utilities Commission will be issuing the enclosed public notice to various regional newspapers to advertise the opportunity for residential electricity customers in regions not served by natural gas to provide letters of comment to the Commission on this matter. Comments to be received on or before August 15, 2016.  Please see attached document on how to submit Comments.
