Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine Receives Donation of Land at Lakelse Lake
The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine has accepted ownership of a 6.81-hectare land parcel at Lakelse Lake south of Terrace. The presently vacant undeveloped land is located on Old Lakelse Lake Lodge Road near First Avenue and has been donated by Mrs. Gail Munson and her late husband George Munson. The Munsons are long-time Terrace area residents and business owners.
“We are happy to donate this land to the Regional District for the benefit of the community,” said Mrs. Munson. “I know this donation is something that my late husband George supported and I’m happy that we were able to get it done. My husband and I built and operated our businesses in the Terrace area over many years with the support of the community, people of the area, and especially our employees, and we want to give back to the community with the donation of this land.”
“On behalf of the Regional District Board, we are pleased to receive this donation and are very grateful to Mrs. Munson and her late husband” said RDKS Chair Cyra Yunkws. “Acquiring land for any type of public use is often difficult and costly, and this donation will be a benefit to the whole community.”
