The Hazeltons & Hwy 37 N. Solid Waste Service Area includes the communities of:  the Greater Hazelton Area, Kitwanga & Cedarvale, District of Stewart, Iskut, Gitanyow, Gitwangak, Gitsegukla, Kispiox, Glen Vowell, Gitanma'ax, Hagwilget, and Witset.
We operate the following facilities and programs to service these communities:

  • Hazelton Waste Management Facility
  • Kitwanga Transfer Station
  • Meziadin Landfill
  • Iskut Landfill
  • Stewart  Transfer Station
  • Recycling Programs
Hazelton / Kitwanga Garbage and Recycling

Recycling programs and garbage disposal are provided at the  Hazelton Waste Management Facility (landfill) and Kitwanga Transfer Station.



Stewart Garbage and Recycling

The Stewart Transfer Station officially opened in October 2019, at the site of the now-closed Stewart Landfill.

Household garbage collected from community dumpsters is hauled to the Stewart Transfer Station. From there, garbage is hauled for disposal at the Meziadin Landfill.

Recyclable materials are being collected at the Stewart Transfer Station Diversion Center. For more information on Stewart's recycling opportunities please see the Stewart Recycling Directory.”
