Acknowledging Every Child Matters

Flags fly at half-mast to honour the 215 children found at the former residential school in Kamloops.

Our flags at our Thornhill Fire Hall and our firehall in Gitaus, in conjunction with the Kitselas First Nation, are flying at half-mast to honour the 215 Indigenous children who never came home from the Kamloops residential school—as well as all other residential schools.

We extend our respect to all survivors who experienced trauma and harm while at residential schools. We join their families and communities in mourning, and we commit to listening and learning how we can have a better relationship with Indigenous peoples, informed by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. #everychildmatters
