Kitselas First Nation Master Plan
Kitselas First Nation is developing a Master Plan for a portion of land located in Thornhill that was part of the Kitselas LNG Benefits Agreement (2017). (DL373) These lands are subject to Regional District bylaws and development regulations, including the Thornhill Official Community Plan that was recently adopted in June 2020.
A mix of housing, commercial and industrial land use is proposed for the lands, to provide opportunities for. economic development through market-driven demand and, social housing.
Extensive work was completed earlier this year through a
joint planning study and cooperation agreement between Kitselas First Nation and the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine. The Master Plan will provide further guidance for future development including a vision and more detail around land use, design and layout of the site.
Building on the input collected through past Member engagement, Kitselas First Nation is using a
Survey to collect input from Members and Thornhill residents to help develop ideas and scenarios. These concepts will be reviewed and considered before finalizing the draft Plan later this fall.
A
Survey gives Thornhill residents an opportunity to let the Master Plan project team know how you use transportation, recreation and services in Thornhill and what development you would like to see in the future. The Survey will be open until August 24th.
